Book of Condolence

A Book of Condolence for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is available to sign in the Town Hall Foyer on Lewes High Street. The Mayor, as the First Citizen of Lewes and representative of the Crown in Lewes signed the first message, and invites everybody to sign.

The Foyer of the Town Hall is being kept open for extended hours so that residents can pay their respects to the Queen.

Hours (subject to change) will be:

  • Friday 9 September 9am – 8pm (reception closes at 4pm)
  • Saturday 10 September 10am – 4pm (reception will be closed)
  • Sunday 11 September 10 am to 4pm (reception will be closed)
  • Monday 12 September 9am to 4pm
  • Tuesday 13 September 9am to 4pm
  • Wednesday 14 September 9am to 4pm
  • Thursday 15 September 9am to 4pm
  • Friday 16 September 9am to 4pm
  • Saturday 17 September 10am to 4pm (reception will be closed)
  • Sunday 18 September 10am to 4pm (reception will be closed)
  • Monday 19 September 10am to 4pm (reception will be closed)
  • Tuesday 20 September 9am to 4pm. The book will be bound, and sent to the Keep for archiving after 4pm.
