37 hours per week – fixed term contract for up to 8 months

LC3 Spinal Column Point 33 £37,568 fixed (pay award pending)

Lewes Town Council is the parish authority for the Town of Lewes. The Council provides a range of services and facilities including allotments, three community venues, a Grant Scheme as well as owning Pells pool, lake and recreation ground, Lewes Priory and 44 hectares of open downland at Landport Bottom.

The post holder will support the Town Clerk in ensuring the smooth running of the financial administration and corporate governance of the Council and oversee the operational management of the community centres and amenities functions. This includes supporting the Council in undertaking the work set out in its business plan, with particular focus on the development and implementation of statutory policies and processes, improving governance and risk management and day to day operational management matters.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with experience in a wide range of personnel processes are essential to take the lead on day-to-day human resources management and to directly manage a small team of staff.

The post holder will also lead on ICT, insurance, safety, and security. With a precept of over £1 million the post holder needs experience in managing and monitoring budgets effectively. Other duties include deputising for the Clerk, preparing reports for committees and attending evening and weekend meetings and events.
