Remembrance and Armistice in Lewes

Remembrance Sunday is on Sunday November 10 this year.

As usual, the Mayor and councillors will be participating in the parade and service between the War Memorial and St Michael’s Church, and warmly invite everybody who would like to pay their respects to observe the parade and attend the service.

The parade begins around 2.30 from the Westgate Street carpark, moves up the High Street where the Mayor and councillors will join around 2.40 for a 2.45 wreath laying and dedication at the War Memorial.

The parade will then march back up the High Street for the 3pm service at St Michael’s Church, led by Reverand Ben Brown. The service will last for around half an hour, followed by tea and biscuits.

Armistice Day

On Armistice Day, Monday 11 November, there will be a two minute silence by the War Memorial, led by Reverand Brown at 11am and attended by the Mayor and councillors. The roads around the Town Hall will be closed between 10.55 and 11.15 so that crowds can gather. All are warmly invited to attend and pay their respects.
